Do any Komodo liveaboards actually sail from Bali?

Two practical notes. Turboprops generally carry a smaller free checked-baggage allowance (often around 10 kg) than jets (around 20 kg), which matters with a camera housing or your own regulator. And Komodo Airport is small: if a flight is cancelled, the next seat may be tomorrow morning, not the next hour.
How much buffer should you leave between your flight and boarding?
One night, minimum, in both directions. Arriving the day before removes the biggest cause of missed departures we see: a cancelled DPS–LBJ flight on boarding morning. A boat cannot hold a group departure for one delayed passenger, and the tide windows that make sites like the Cauldron and Batu Bolong workable do not wait either.
On the way home the constraint is physiological. After days of repetitive diving, allow 18–24 hours between your final dive and any flight: the boat drops you in Labuan Bajo, you sleep ashore, you fly to Bali the next day. Lombok to Komodo is a genuine, long-running route — typically three to four days on open-deck sailing boats via Moyo, Satonda and Sangeang, ending in Labuan Bajo. These are social cruising voyages with snorkelling stops, basic shared cabins and long ocean crossings. They are not equipped as dive liveaboards: no compressor schedule built around three to four dives a day, no nitrox, no dive deck. The magnitude 7.7 earthquake on 15 August 2026 struck roughly 200 km northeast of Labuan Bajo. Sailing departures reopened the same day under harbour master notice Maklumat 05/MP-VIII/2026, and Komodo National Park was not closed. Conditions on the standard itineraries have been normal so far. Can I take a ferry or public boat from Bali to Komodo?
Long-distance Pelni passenger ships call at Labuan Bajo, but sailings are infrequent, take well over a day and are not designed for divers or their equipment. For a diving trip, flying is the only sensible option.
