The dry season, April to November, delivers the best diving — flat crossings, 20–30 m visibility and the strongest current action on the north seamounts. July to September is peak, so budget berths sell out first and shared cabins fill fastest. Currents: why experience matters more than price
Komodo’s northern sites — Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, The Cauldron — run strong, cold, unpredictable currents. We recommend divers hold Advanced Open Water with at least 30 logged dives for these. Newer divers still get an excellent budget trip: we route them to Manta Point, Siaba and Batu Bolong, all of which sit inside comfortable current windows. Being cheap never means being under-guided — our maximum is four divers per guide on advanced sites.

Getting there
Fly to Labuan Bajo (airport code LBJ) — daily connections from Bali (1h20), Jakarta and Surabaya. We meet you at the harbour; there is no separate transfer fee on any shared departure. Arrive the day before your trip so a delayed flight never costs you a dive.
